DUNGEON SIM
AboutThe idea for this project is to have a mix between the action of a regular top down shooter and the strategy behind a tower defense game. "Fornite" was a big inspiration for this, because it does a really good job of seamlessly combining the shooting and building aspects.
I decided to use Unity, since it will allow me to make something more complex compared to most of my other projects (which are done in Pico 8). Gameplay goalsThis game is planned to lay a bigger focus on building, than fighting manually, as well as long time strategy, but the main goal isn't entirely clear yet. Adding rooms to make a "real" big dungeon may be a nice feature, or even including resource gathering to make it similar to a game like "Satisfactory".
Other planned features are upgrading traps and walls, repairing them and having more enemy variety. PolishWhile working on this project I added a lot of unnecessary visual polish before the main gameplay components were really done. This turned out to cripple the development speed. This was very surprising, since I always believed in the notion of "gameplay first". So in future projects, I'll be sure to finish the core gameplay before doing any fancy visuals.
