SHAPE PUZZLE
AboutThis game was made in one week as an assignment during the process of an internship application. The given task was creating a mobile game, in which you have to replicate a simple sillouhette by dragging shapes, in a level based manner.
GameplayIn addition to the given requirements, I wanted to add the ability to rotate and scale pieces. The former also made it into the game: By quickly tapping them you can rotate them by 45°. However, as I wanted to keep the controls as simple as possible, I couldn't find a way to intuitively scale pieces with one finger.
Another feature that I had problems with was snapping pieces into their ideal position. One approach could have been to keep all of the pieces in the place, where the player put them and only snap all of them together when they resemble the correct shape. However, I choose to snap pieces in place if they are close to a correct position, since the game could be too unfair otherwise. For example you would have to figure out that a piece might just be a tiny bit too small to be correct. ArtMost of the effects are to make the building feel as realistic as possible, as if you were holding actual lego pieces. For this I added fake shadows, as well as grab and release tweens. Many of these elements were also inspired by the game "Mario Maker". Especially the idea of swiping objects offscreen to delete them.
